St Sennara Earrings

These gold stud earrings take the form of two mermaids each of whom has a halo of five resin studs.
In Cornwall, England, there is a church dedicated to Saint Sennara. Inside this ancient building, surrounded by green pastures sits an elaborately carved wooden chair, decorated with the image of a mermaid. Over 600 years old, the chair references folklore from the region that tells the tale of a mermaid who fell in love with a man through only his voice. She would listen to the chorister as he sang in the church, and over time the two met and fell in love. He went to live with her in her watery home in Pendour Cove, and the lovers can still be heard on summer nights, singing together.
